Happy Belated Pizza Day! I know I am late, but pizza is pizza and it is delicious no matter what day it is. There are many heart shaped pizza crusts floating around Pinterest, which is a neat idea for Valentine’s day, but let’s take it up a notch! These pizza rolls are fast, fun, and will be a big hit with the kiddos.
Pronto Pizza Rolls
- 1 (13.8 ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough
- 3/4 cup marinara sauce, plus more for serving
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, plus more for sprinkling on top
- Pepperoni, to taste
Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray muffin pan/ silicone mold with non-stick cooking spray and set aside. Unroll the pizza dough and stretch into a large rectangle about 12 x 15 inches. Spread 3/4 cup marinara sauce over the top of the pizza dough, leave a 1/2 inch gap on one of the long edges. Sprinkle cheese evenly over the top of the marinara sauce, then top with pepperoni as desired. Starting with the long side that does not have the gap, carefully roll and tuck the dough until you have formed a log. Stretch the side of the dough with the gap over the top of the log to seal. Slice the pizza roll into 8 individual rolls and place each roll into individual muffin cups. Bake for 15 minutes until puffed up and golden brown. Top each roll with an additional sprinkle of cheese and return to the oven for another 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.

Unroll the pizza dough and stretch it into a large rectangle. Refrigerated pizza dough is such a time saver!
Slather that dough with some gorgeous marinara sauce, yum! Notice my stubby fingers showing you the gap I left at the edge of the dough; we will use that gap to seal the pizza roll later on.
Sprinkle the cheese over the top of the marinara sauce. I actually went a little lenient on the cheese; when I make this again I will probably add another 1/2 cup of cheese, but you can add more or less depending on your tastes.
Spread your pepperoni evenly over the top. At this point, you could toss this pizza in the oven and enjoy, but we are going to take it a bit farther!
Carefully roll the pizza dough while tucking the toppings under at the same time. Be careful not to tear the dough.
Grab the gap that you left on the dough and pull it over the top of your pizza roll and press lightly to seal the dough.
Slice the pizza roll into 8 sections, use a nice sharp knife so the pepperoni doesn’t try to escape along with your dull knife.
Plop the rolls into your silicone muffin pan, or a regular muffin pan. I also tried a couple of rolls free range on a greased baking sheet. I live dangerously, what can I say?
Bake your rolls in a preheated 400 degree oven for 15 minutes, until they are puffed and golden. Is it just me, or do these look like cheesy, delicious, roses to you? Just me? Okay, moving on…
Add another sprinkling of cheese on top and pop those lovelies back into the oven for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and glorious.
If you like pizza (let’s be honest who doesn’t like pizza?) then you will definitely enjoy these Pronto Pizza Rolls. My son maybe only 13 months old, but I am sure that if he were a little older he would think these were great!
Serve these with extra marinara sauce and a simple side salad for a complete meal. I love that the pizza rolls held their shape and look like cute little hearts. I know you will enjoy these for your Valentine’s Day lunch.
