What makes rice crispy treats so gosh darn delicious? I’m sure it has nothing to due with the copious amounts of marshmallows.
Instead of spending extra money on these treats from the store you should try making these delightful goodies yourself. They are unbelievably easy, so delicious, and cheap!
I make these treats so often that I am actually surprised it took me so long to share this recipe with you.
Rice Crispy Treats
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 (10 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups rice crispy cereal
Directions: In a large pot melt the butter over medium-low heat. Stir in the marshmallows and continue to heat slowly over medium-low heat, stirring constantly to prevent sticking, until they are completely melted and smooth. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the cereal until it is completely coated in marshmallow coating. Pour the whole mixture into a lightly greased 9×13 pan and use waxed paper to press the cereal mixture down until it is evenly packed. Allow to cool and set before cutting and serving. Enjoy!
You need literally 3 ingredients to make these wonderful goodies. What’s your excuse for not making them?
Melt the buttah in a big ol’ pot over medium-low heat.
Once melted pour in the marshmallows…
Stir… until you have the most beautiful velvety marshmallow goodness imaginable.
Take the pot off the heat and pour in the cereal.
Gently stir until everything is evenly combined.
Pour the whole mixture into a lightly greased 9×13 pan, you can also line it with plastic wrap if you’d rather not grease the pan.
Please ignore my sausage fingers while I use waxed paper to press the cereal mixture flat and evenly distributed.
Ta da! Doesn’t that look nice?
Now we just let it cool and set up before slicing and serving. Yummy!
Feel free to cut your treats into any shape you’d like, I’m doing something fun with triangle rice crispy treats. Just wait, I’ll show you soon!
So many marshmallows went into the making of these groovy goodies. No marshmallow was spared.
I may or may not have taken a bite out of this one. But who knows, it could have been the Christmas elves.
